For the first chunk of the day, Emily and I got to see her people over at Klyde Warren Park. Her cousins Garrett and Stewart had painted (and essentially redesigned) chairs as part of an art contest and fundraiser. It seemed like a pretty cool deal! Everytime I see her aunt and uncle I wonder why we don't hang out with them more often.
A quick lunch later, and I was driving up to Denton Town to....graduate? Yes! As part of this UNT video I'm working on, I dressed out in full regalia for graduation, an undercover filmmaker disguised as a graduating senior. That is, a graduating senior with a camera attached to his face. I was mildly distracting, but it was fun! The strangest part of the whole deal was walking across that stage when they called my name. The deadening silence reminded me that absolutely no one was there to watch me graduate. So yeah, that was a bit awkward.
Not to worry! Jon and David happened to be around, so Emily joined us and we drank the night away at Paschall's. It was a ball! I even managed to confirm that I am, in fact, still horrible at darts. Huzzah!

The graduation runthrough was this afternoon at UNT, and it looks as if that shoot will run much more smoothly than I thought it would. Those people are organized, yay!
After work I got a quick car wash, where I discovered my first door ding. It's not terrible, but it's there now. Bit of a bummer.
Then tonight I got to hang out with my people and Wayne and Treva! We started for dinner at Oddfellows, which they loved. I almost Musked a car that had parked at a charging station, despite being a gas car. GRR!! I even wrapped the charging cable around their side mirror in protest. Then to my surprise, an Oddfellow's employee came out, angrily threw the charger to the ground, and brought out a sheet of paper chastising the driver for taking my spot. Hooray!
Next we stood in a crazy line (at 9:30 at night!) for pie at Emporium Pies. I noticed the girl at the counter had the same dogs on her shirt as I did (Snarky Puppy shirt), so I took a picture of her, at which point she apparently transformed into Rosie the Riveter.
FINALLY, after all this, we left for Craft and Growler. However, there was a massive wreck somewhere and it took us over an hour to drive 4 miles, which put us there 15 minutes before they closed. BUT we managed to have a couple of flights and fill some growlers before they kicked us out. All in all, I'd call it a successful trip.

It was a longer day than expected, but we all had a great time! It feels nice being back out with the RED again. Seems like it's been ages! The actors we're working with are really cool, and they seem to be enjoying themselves. I sort of wish we had more time and crew so we could overtake all the nasty flourescent lights around here and replace them with balanced light. Maybe next time! Maybe not, but oh well. Color grading is magic!
I showed Emily a few of the dailies this evening, and she said she would totally hook up with the main actor. I'll be sure to get a sexy shot of him tomorrow just for her. Bahaha

Back at UNT I did a quick shoot with a group of girls by the eagle statue. We had a fake study session for the POV video, but they all actually had things to study since it's finals week. Piece of cake! I wish more of my study sessions in school had been in packs of girls, but oh well. I'm sure it'll ring true to somebody!
Work ended just in time for me to swing by Campus Theater, where I watched Andy win 500 bucks for his video about Denton. It was some "I Am Denton" video contest, and his got it by a landslide! Great work buddy!

The duck did survive. I promise.
Early this afternoon I met up with Andy on UNT campus to walk through our library shoot later this week. It was HOT outside! I was thinking about seeing Snarky Puppy again tonight in Denton, but we finished early and I had time to burn. I called my people to see what they were up to, and HEY lunch!
I ended up meeting with the fam at Yucatan Taco Stand in Ft. Worth, which was delicious! We went back to Aledo, where I basically shifted into Tesla tour mode. Dad wanted me to show his neighbor, and then we thought maybe the Tubbs people were home! Turns out they were!
We drove over there and I quickly met their children and a pile of baby ducks. Both of their daughters were dressed as princesses, and they haven't quite grasped the concept of being gentle with small animals. It was really fun to see them though!
On the way home we noticed cars at the Aledo High School parking lot. After a quick text, we confirmed that the band directors were there. So, we promptly drove there and hung out with them for awhile, giving car tours one at a time as they became available--Marva Collins was going on.
I did end up missing Snarky Puppy, but we had a great time nonetheless!

Michael needed some outside fun times, so we met up for an early dinner at Company Cafe and saw Iron Man 3 at NorthPark. It wasn't bad! Pretty standard, storywise, but man, special effects are getting crazy these days.

Neo Woodstock happened in Denton today, and it was not a bad shindig! The Austere folks seem to be trying out several different kinds of party, and I think their planning skills are definitely showing improvement. The turnout was great, the location worked great, and everyone seemed to have a genuinely good time!
On the way there Emily needed me to stop at a gas station so she could pick up something. I took the opportunity to stage a hilariously stupid photo of my car next to a pump. Smugness: ACTIVATE!
THEN tonight the family all came down to Dallas to see Snarky Puppy at the Prophet Bar! They were amazing as usual. I guess my bro wasn't digging it too much though. Supposedly he and his GF were so hungry they made my parents leave 2 songs into the show to get food. They missed out! After the show, Mike told me he's saving up to get me and Andy out to Holland to film their next album. MAN I hope that works out! That would be amazing.

What a fun day! At work we took a detour on the way back from lunch to check out the new Denton camera shop. The guy there seems to know his stuff and is very nice--even under Gary's persistent questioning.
Brandon finished printing the first set of pages for his book and wanted to celebrate. Emily and I invited Michael to join us all at Craft and Growler (FINALLY!) for some tasty brews. In addition to some entertaining antics, we brainstormed some ideas for a Tesla video I'm starting on. Elon tweeted me back today! He wants me to make a video convincing lawmakers to vote in favor of direct sales in TX. LET'S DO IT!
We stopped at Serious Pizza on the way home, and I can confirm that even the largest pizza they make is no match for the massive trunk in the Model S! After what seemed like an eternity of digging through Netflix back home (they NEVER have the movies I want to watch), we settled on...wait for it... Home Alone 3! Also known as Scarlet Johansson's best film, HA3 kept us occupied while we consumed massive pizza into the morning hours. It was lovely.

My coffee addiction has slowly become more and more apparent. I will say that I'd much rather be a social coffee drinker than a social smoker. The coffee really helped today too. It's been in the upper 80s all week until today, which was nasty, sleety, and in the 40s. Welcome to May??
Apparently some dude killed himself at the Houston airport today, which caused delayed flights, including Emily's stop on her way home from Vegas. She didn't get home until after 1am! By then I was already in full cat cuddling mode, but I'm sure we'll visit tomorrow. I've been waiting for you, Friday!

This morning a got a text from Leslie Wimmer about some NBC peeps coming up to campus to do something on EVs or something. She wanted to know if I could swing by and talk to them a bit. I was barely able to get there because I lucked out and had a meeting let out early. When I pulled up they all went, "WOAHHH!"
The guy ended up interviewing me and a few others and shooting a ton of b-roll of my car doing various things. He seemed very excited about the story.
My afternoon was spent wandering around campus with Angilee, gathering stills for a storyboard we'll putting together for the VP. I guess even though I'm halfway shooting this POV video we still have to keep pitching it. Sheesh.
Driving home from work I spoke to my mom on the phone. She told me about some exciting new Starbucks drink. I decided to make a stop and grab one myself. When I did stop I noticed there was no drive through. In the time it took me to order a drink, one of the baristas asked me about the car, and pointed out that one of their regulars was outside looking at it. Long story short, I ended up taking the regular AND the barista on a ride around the block. This is my life now. It was great!

Although I did have a shoot today, I was in and out so quickly that I neglected to take a picture. It involved a POV shot of an art teacher pretending to critique a painting that I, a supposed student, did.
At home I tried really hard to get some work done, but I tried even harder to avoid working. I did get a lot of television watching done, and a TON of internetting. I even had a nice conversation with Amanda, who I feel like I hadn't seen in ages. Yet again, I will likely head to Sleepton Abbey early this night.

Goodbye Emily! I took her to work this morning so her car wouldn't be left in the parking garage all week while she's in FLIPPIN VEGAS. She and her coworkers are going there for a "conference" and stuff. If I had the time and money I totally would've joined them, but I'm sure she'll manage without me.
Some dude has been stranded at our place today. He's visiting Amanda, but apparently she just went to work today and left him on our couch to fend for himself. I introduced him to my mom when she came up for lunch. She and I met a coworker of hers for lunch and a car tour. It was fun! I should try to do more stuff with my mom on Mondays.
While at lunch, McCall texted me that she was in town. Luckily the timing worked out just right, so we were able to meet up for a quick drink before she had to head home. Grad school seems pretty rough. I'm not sure why, but my energy level today was crazy low. I'm prety sure McCall just watched me sleep at the bar. In fact, not long after she left I laid down for a surprise 3 hour nap! Stupid naps. Ugh. You know what? I'll just go to bed right now! That'll show 'em! HA!

Well, we ALMOST got to see a documentary today. My friend Jake make a doc about the Dublin Dr. Pepper bottling company that got shut down awhile back. It screened this evening at the Angelika as part of the USA Film Festival. I was pretty stoked to see it--stoked enough to shift our Game of Thrones party back an hour. Emily, Ryan Nelson, and I drove over there and got free drinks from the Dublin Bottling Company while we waited in the ticket line. The place was pretty packed.
By the time we got up to buy tickets, they said it would be $10--no problem--and it was cash only--WTF?! It's 2013, people! Have we not learned about Square yet? We only had $10 among the three of us, and nobody wanted to pay an ATM fee to see a movie, so we bailed. While we were there we also ran into Tania and David Hamilton, who seemed fairly disappointed that I didn't take a helicopter over the terrible traffic on 75 to see their movie yesterday. Those two seem more like a locker full of secrets than buddies lately. Sad.
So we left the Angelika and decided to have dinner at the adjacent Irish Pub. As soon as we walked in, a dude yelled at us to get out because we still had our free Dublin beverages in our hands. UGH! At that point we threw up our hands and said SCREW IT! You know what? We're going to LITTLE CAESAR'S and getting HOT N READY pizzas and watching Game of Thrones ON TIME! SO THERE! After that it was a lovely evening.

Emily and I made the trek up to Denton and managed to wipe ourselves out once again. She did Camp Gladiator this morning, and then most of our day was spent wandering around at Jazz Fest. First we stopped at Jessica Terrill's place. She was giving away piles of clothes and Emily couldn't resist.
By the time we got to Jazz Fest Emily was dying of starvation and was quickly becoming the crankiest person within a 50 mile radius. Despite our best efforts to grab lunch at the festival, we eventually decided that $20 was too much for chicken on a stick, and that any festival that doesn't accept credit cards in 2013 does not earn our business. So it was off to Mellow Mushroom! Delish.
McCall met up with us for some wandering, which was f un. Even Dr. Kitchens joined up with us as one point! Relaxing on the grass with that group was exactly what I've been needing. I will now start looking for more excuses to do that.
This evening was something called a Whiskey and Wine party that was put on by Emily's friends Allie and Jayme, who are trying to start an event and party planning business. Coincidentally, this was the last time most of us will be seeing Meghan before she moves to LA on Monday. One more excuse to move to California!

I did not expect to spend quite so much time with this chick today! We had lunch at Royal's Bagels (always delicious) and talked about how someday we would get together, hang out, and not talk about work stuff for once. Well folks, today it happened! But not until later.
I got some serious walking in today. For the POV video I tagged along on a full campus tour. Usually they ride around in little cars, but today it was busted so we wandered around campus for an hour and a half. Exercise! Somehow word about my car has gotten around campus. The tour guide already knew about it and wanted a ride. After the tour we walked back over to my car so we could have a little joyride. Always fun!
After work I grabbed dinner with Cameron and Becca at Greenhouse. I guess they're all good to go again. They must've just hit a little bump over the weekend, because they seem fine now! It was nice to visit with them for awhile.
Then it was off to Pascall's, where I met with Loryn and her friend Rachel. Rachel turned out to be a pretty cool chick, so of course we drank and visited much longer than intended. Not to worry though, we still managed to hop over to Jazz Fest just in time to get some POV footage. It's not easy to keep a low profile with a GoPro on your face, believe me. Nonetheless, it was a lovely evening.
I did not expect to spend quite so much time with this chick today! We had lunch at Royal's Bagels (always delicious) and talked about how someday we would get together, hang out, and not talk about work stuff for once. Well folks, today it happened! But not until later.
I got some serious walking in today. For the POV video I tagged along on a full campus tour. Usually they ride around in little cars, but today it was busted so we wandered around campus for an hour and a half. Exercise! Somehow word about my car has gotten around campus. The tour guide already knew about it and wanted a ride. After the tour we walked back over to my car so we could have a little joyride. Always fun!
After work I grabbed dinner with Cameron and Becca at Greenhouse. I guess they're all good to go again. They must've just hit a little bump over the weekend, because they seem fine now! It was nice to visit with them for awhile.
Then it was off to Pascall's, where I met with Loryn and her friend Rachel. Rachel turned out to be a pretty cool chick, so of course we drank and visited much longer than intended. Not to worry though, we still managed to hop over to Jazz Fest just in time to get some POV footage. It's not easy to keep a low profile with a GoPro on your face, believe me. Nonetheless, it was a lovely evening.

Gary and I shot a bit over at the Art building this morning. He took some stills while I wandered around with a GoPro attached to my face. By pure chance I ran into Larissa Mathews in the light well. Not only did we get to catch up, but I also got some much-needed POV footage of me "hanging out" with a student. Win-Win!
We spent a little of the day watching whatever this thing is about the George Bush Library at SMU on TV. All the surviving presidents are in town today for the ceremony. I don't really get why this is a big deal. I did get to enjoy the resulting traffic on my ride home though! It was lovely.
I got home and my parcel shelf was there waiting for me! So funny I've been waiting for the thing since February 5th, and without warning it shows up on my door nearly 3 months later. I'm glad it's here though! Now my gear will be EXTRA hidden.

I got to ride in a Citroën DS today! I didn't even learn what it was until a month or so ago when I saw a video MotorTrend put out comparing its innovations to those of the Tesla Model S, but for its time the DS was a seriously huge deal. Even by today's standards it's a pretty great car.
Jonathan introduced me to the car's owner and new boss of PDS, Richard Griffin. Both of us had seen the MotorTrend video and knew we had to meet up. Today was the day! He was thoroughly impressed by the Tesla, and I totally loved the DS. We even got to take each car for a ride! It was an excellent lunch.

GoPro production is in full swing! This POV thing should be pretty interesting. I started out early this morning with a shoot at the MultiCultural Center, where I shot this fine group with a camera mounted on my face. Yes, the mural totally photobombed the shot, but I think it totally adds.

I managed to forget just about everything for this ride, BUT I surived. Instead of my bike shorts I accidentally brought two jerseys. After unloading our bikes at Bearcat Stadium I realized I'd left my helmet back at my parents and had to go get it. Anyway, the ride was pretty good. Mostly, it was hilly. And windy. HOLY CRAP it was hilly and windy. I don't think I've ever grunted so many expletives under my breath before today. According to my Jawbone UP, I burned over 6,000 calories though! Can't argue with that, right? It was a really fun ride though, and the people were really cool. I'll probably do it again next year. Jeesh.

I've been several times before, but it's always different... and more crowded. It's hard to keep my mom under control there too. She wants all the things! We had loads of fun, AND I'm going straight to bed now.

Today started out as any other work day. I had a couple of DVDs to burn and send out, but other than that there wasn't a whole lot going on. I met with McCall for lunch, and she took my day by the horns!
She needed to go to Klyde Warren Park to get some footage for a project she's working on. I had never BEEN to Klyde Warren park! Crazy right? What a great excuse this would be for me to go see the park too! So that's exactly what I did. We rode down there together and roamed around shooting the park. We even got some amazing ice cream sandwiches at one of the food trucks. Now, I can finally say I have experienced the park over the highway. I definitely need to go back again soon and play some bocce ball! Excellent afternoon.

I got to have lunch with Sydney today! She showed me some new recordings of a few songs she thinks might work for a video we're working on. We might be finally starting to make some progress on this thing! I can't wait to actually shoot it. I don't think anything has quite matched her reaction to my car yet. Everytime she sees it she just goes nuts. It's great!
Back at Chilton, I was hanging with Jonathan when he got a call from Gary. Apparently not having learned anything from his last experience, he tried to drive over a curb in the golf cart, only to get the thing stuck there. We had to walk across campus to help him push it free. Luckily no permanent damage was done. That dude is out of control

Happy tax day everybody! I was a bit worried I wouldn't get my car back in time for the Emerald Eagle Honors event tonight, but it worked out! I picked the MS up at 3pm, only to hang around for another 45 minutes or so while they detailed it for me (I love that they do that). I could hang out with those guys all day, easily.

I'm starting to feel better about this upcoming Ride for Heroes thing. We successfully made it two trips around the lake today, AND we didn't die! I got close a couple of times, but I pushed through! We're going to try for three laps later this week. That'll be our last ride before the big show!
Once that was done, Emily and I popped over to Brandon's place to shoot some footage of his current setup. The guy has really been pumping away on his Manly Marks! We're talking prints in the THOUSANDS already. He might knock this thing out sooner than he thought!

I had to drive that godforsaken Focus up to Denton today to shoot video at the Green and White game. This was the only chance I had to shoot some football before the real season starts, and by then I ihave to have this video finished. It was nice out, but unfortunately the crowd was pretty tame, thin and not the right demographic. I did my best though!
Tonight Emily and I wandered around Knox/Henderson looking at furniture and pretending to be rich people. On a whim we popped into the Apple store so they could check out my phone. Turns out the headphone jack is busted! And here I've been replacing my Jawbone UP! Anyway, the new phone is nice, I got my Skateback transferred over (very surprising), but the vibration might be screwy. Guess I'll have to go back again tomorrow! Whoops.

It wasn't a bad day, but it definitely could have gone more smoothly. I took my car to the service center only to find out that, instead of being an in-and-out 30min deal, they need my car all weekend. I got a Ford Focus as my rental car, and I am SO SPOILED now. No way I'll ever be buying another gas car unless I have to.
After picking up the rental, I remembered (just in time) that I'd left my parking sticker in the Tesla. When I went back to get it, the other brown car was there too!! As far as anyone knows, we are the only 2 brown Teslas in NTX, possibly even all of TX! Halfway up to Denton I realized I'd also forgotten the GoPro I had in the frunk… the GoPro I would be needing to shoot this sweet international parade.
To emulate a POV shot, I just wandered around with the 5D pressed against my face. Easy fix, right?! We'll see. The parade was nice though, and University Day had a HUGE turnout. Not to mention the tasty weather. At least that chunk of the day went alright.

I heard this loud banging sound coming from the front of the house. A peek out the window revealed a handful of construction dudes running a jackhammer on the sidewalk. No idea what they were doing, but now it's just a dirt pile and caution signs.
So the Meyerson is way awesome. Somehow I managed to never visit this place until today, but WOW! Very cool. Hopefully this UNT shindig will be as fun and cool as this building makes it seem like it'll be. Here's hoping!

After work today, I rode with Emily to Richardson Bike Mart so she could check out some pedals and shoes. She's suddenly interested in getting clips, which means I'll probably have to get clps soon too. Money! Yay! Ergh.
Turns out, Richardson Bike Mart is pretty expensive in that department! We got a better idea of how clips work though, which will inform our future purchases.
Tonight we saw Hanny's short doc at the Dallas International Film Festival! It was part of a series of short docs, and it was good! There was a diverse blend of docs in there too. It was cool to see Hanny again and hang out before the screening as well. Very pleasant evening!

How have I gone this long without editing that junk! Well, worry not. Today it was completed and shared with the internets, and all rejoiced.

Sunday Brunch Day once again! Meghan joined us this time, which was nice. She's moving to California at the end of the MONTH! It's crazy. One more excuse to move over there!
After brunch, Emily and I rode out to the lake for some Ride for Heroes training. We made it a lap around! I almost passed out, but we made it. 13 miles this time, and hopefully double that next time. We can do it!

McCall came up and met us there so we could ride together to the Cupboard for lunch with Angel. That place too ages to make our food, but at least the people were nice. And the company was nice too.

We had just enough time to get ready and head back out, this time to the Palladium to see Grizzly Bear. It was a really good show! I'd forgotten how many of their songs I actually know. I hate parking at the Palladium every time though. Stupid paid parking lots.

Brandon showed us the spoils of his Kickstarter success this evening. He's gotten all stocked up on supplies for his books and posters, and all his illustrations are carved and ready for print. Speaking of print, he finally has a legit letterpress! The thing was built around 1890, but it looks brand new! Very cool stuff. Hopefully he'll want to do another Kickstarter soon! I love doing those videos. OH and he paid me too. After the Saturn, that makes two steps closer to comfortably paying taxes! Whew!

It's gone! I can't believe it's really gone! After about 10 wonderful years, I finally said goodbye to the Saturn today. While I would have loved to have sold it to a friend, I finally ran out of time. Well, I thought I was out of time. See, I finished doing my taxes today and freaked out a little about how much I owe. Forgetting that I actually have until the 15th to send payment and that I just wrapped up a pile of projects, I quickly decided that the Ion must be sold to CarMax.

It's gone! I can't believe it's really gone! After about 10 wonderful years, I finally said goodbye to the Saturn today. While I would have loved to have sold it to a friend, I finally ran out of time. Well, I thought I was out of time. See, I finished doing my taxes today and freaked out a little about how much I owe. Forgetting that I actually have until the 15th to send payment and that I just wrapped up a pile of projects, I quickly decided that the Ion must be sold to CarMax.

I had to go to Admin today for a meeting with my fellow URCM peeps about an upcoming event I'll be shooting. We had to figure out who was doing what and what kind of expectations there will be. I think it will be OK, but people do get very excited about these things.
After work I got a surprise message from McCall, who needed some bro time. How nice! We grabbed a couple beers and gossiped for awhile before I needed to head home. That girl needs to hurry up and move to Dallas!

Easter in March? That's a bit odd. The family and all our people hopped over to Aledo for Easter lunch (which was DELICIOUS, by the way) and an Easter egg hunt. Yes, we really did it. I'm pretty sure everyone involved was 20 or older, but you know what? All that means is my parents can hide the eggs in crazier spots… like burying them in the front yard. WTF!?
We did manage to find all but one egg, which is pretty good for us.

We went all over the place today! This morning a group of us met at Old Monk for brunch. Saturday brunch is pretty nice! The crowds aren't nearly as bad.
As soon as we finished eating and visiting, it was off to Denton so Emily could hand some Fuzzy Muffins over to Rachel for her DIME store opening. The place is great! I'm really stoked for Rachel.
She got herself some good times ahead! We also dropped by Recycled Books to get rid of some of Emily's old stuff. The took a bunch, but not everything. On the way back to Dallas we stopped at Half Price Books to get rid of the rest of Emily's junk… and they took it!

I took my car into the Tesla service center for the first time today, and it was an amazing experience! The customer service there remains some of the best I've ever experienced. One of my door handles had failed to work correctly a couple times, which I'm 99% sure was due to user error, but they went ahead and ordered me a replacement anyway. Installing that was the main reason for today's visit. I had them check out some other stuff while I was there as well.
I was there for quite awhile, but the guys were amazing. They showed me around the inside parts of the car and how they work, and I got to see the battery of another car on a table, detached from the car itself so I could see the various plugs and stuff. SO COOL! There is absolutely no way you'll get this kind of customer service with any other carmaker. Great day!

I woke up this morning to an interesting sound. Someone at the park was having a REALLY great time. After waiting over an hour for the noise to stop, I dragged myself out of bed to take a look out the window. Turns out, there was a huge marathon going on right outside my house! Happy birthday, Dad!
I was a little late to his birthday dinner at Pappadeaux on a account of a baby freakout I had about these edits I was given over the weekend. I passed one of them along to Andy to lighten my load, but to do so I had to bring him the assets and acclimate him to the project.
Once that was over, I threw it into overdrive and managed to get to dinner without much issue. It was delicious! Then, it was home to Aledo for presents, cake, and the good times. Woohoo!

I hung around Denton after work so I could see the Red Death perform at Hailey's. Luckily the time in between work and the show wasn't too bad becase we drove all the way to Roanoke to have lunch at Twisted Root, so popping a bit of extra time onto my work day w as for the best.
My parents brought Wayne and Triva up to Denton for the show as well. We ate dinner at Thai Ocha before I showed them Pascall's. They are connoisseurs of the adult beverage, and I think they enjoyed the place.

This morning Jonathan and I got coffee at EESAT, one of the best places on campus to grab a cup. Jonathan also whipped out his Polaroid outside to get a shot of a statue on campus.
Tonight I went with Rachel to a place on Greenville for a beer class she bought on Groupon. It was great! We got to try all different kinds of beer, and they taught us about the various types of glassware and why certain beers work better in certain glasses. I'm overflowing with knowledge right now. PLUS I got to see Rachel, who probably should have been cut off after the first two beer samples. She is adorable.

This morning I met with Darren about NLE and some upcoming videos we'll be working on. We also went on an obligatory spin in the MS. We actually ended up having our meeting in the car. Not bad!
We finally got to shoot that rescheduled Scrappy scene for the Facebook video today! Jonathan even joined us to grab some stills. Looks like he got what he wanted! Landon has gotten pretty good at playing crew member as well!

I pushed pretty hard on some tax prep today, and my fears were confirmed: It's going to take a very long time to do taxes this year.

Pretty sure he had hoped to play indoors, but somehow he ended up outside by the highway--not exactly the intended environment for his musical style of the day. I got to meet up with them and my people at a place called Sweet Sammies in Ft. Worth, which turned out to be amazing, delicious, AND cheap! Excellent ice cream sandwiches. You should definitely go to there.
Anyway we hung out and talked for a few hours, and I got to show them my car (of course). I can't wait for them to come back down! Good peeps.

What a party! McCall celebrated her birthday today with a booty-themed birthday party, for which she made bootylicious chocoloate booty cake. The party started just late enough for me to have to drive back to Dallas before coming back to Denton for the party. Luckily this enabled Emily and me to drive in one car.
About 5 minutes after arriving at the party, I was taking a drink when Emily decided to really express herself with her hands. In doing so, she elbowed the bottom of my bottle, chipping part of my front tooth off. OUCH! Luckily it's not TOO bad, but it will definitely bother me for awhile until it smooths itself out.
Ruined perfect smile aside, it was a great party! I can't wait to hang with those kids again. Hopefully soon!

Another day at work during Spring Break, another stroll across campus. Jonathan and I met up with Kelley Pound at the new Mediterranean place on Fry called Grip. To get there, we had to walk across campus, which meant talking to every human being we saw on the way. Jonathan knows everyone. We also decided to take a picture of every person we talked to. This is a lamp with the sun behind it. Needless to say we took our time getting there.
Grip was actually really yummy! Decently priced, interesting selection… I would go back. For dinner Emily and I ordered a large pizza to eat while watching the Daily Show. I absent-mindedly consumed 6 slices of the thing by the end of the show. Oops.
Tomorrow, Fat Brad is going to work instead of me!

I told you I'd hook Rachel up with some food! I forgot until today that today is Monday, which is the perfect day to have lunch with Rachel! I picked her up at work and took her to some place called Tipicos. It was pretty good! Mexican food and stuff. I was reminded of what horchata is too. Tasty stuff!
Later this afternoon, my brother posted about jamming in Aledo, and Dad commented about needing a drummer. So, on a whim, I drove down to Aledo and played drums with them in a mini jam session! Snarky Puppy shoots make me practically drool over the chance to play music, so it was nice to get a little release. New Hanson!

Yep, that late-night samba dancing didn't help us out much. Andy's alarm didn't get set, and we woke up an hour before our flight. Whoops! Plus we had to go to the Jeff Center first and pick up our gear. Needless to say, we did not catch our flight. Luckily, Flights our of Roanoke only go to either Charlotte or Philly, so we only had to wait an hour and we were back on track!
I realized when we landed at DFW airport that I hadn't figured out a way to actually get home from the airport. Andy's people were in a hurry, and Eric Hartman lives ages away--not to mention our current level of friendship doesn't quite allow airport rides yet. Amanda is shooting at 35 Denton, oh, and Emily is at SXSW right now hanging out with Elon Musk instead of giving me a ride.

Another night, another incredible show! Tonight there was an audience on the stage, plus about 700 people in the auditorium. We had to adjust the lighting and move almost every camera to work with the new setup, and even though we were still moving lights as people arrived for the show, we got it ready in time! Each of the 8 artists played two songs, and they also had four students of the Jeff Center Music Lab come out and perform songs of their own. HOLY CRAP! Amazing, amazing kids. They performed pretty much at the same level as everybody else on that stage. It was crazy.
Afterwards we had to wrap up all the gear while the band went out for a wrap party. We got it all put up and made it out the bar JUST before 2AM. Turns out, in Roanoke they actually come and TAKE your beer from you when 2AM hits. SO, we each bought 2 drinks, threw them back, and then bought three growlers to take back to the hotel. Brilliant!
Back at the hotel, Andy and I had Chris, Jay, Eric, Nikki, Malika, and Magda hang with us in our room for awhile. Magda tought us how to samba, Jay talked about touring with Toby Kieth, and we found out that Malika is a prog rocker. WHAT?!
We were up dancing until 6:30 in the morning and CRAP we have a flight at 11AM! Goodnight!

Despite some snow here and in other parts of the country, the artists all managed to make it into town for rehearsal today. The songs sound great! For the band, today was the first big rehearsal day. The artists started trickling in today, and tomorrow is the big rehearsal with them. Today was band-only.
While the Pups did their thing, Andy, the crew, and I did most of our lighting work for the Friday performance. We have a huge amount of flexibility compared to the last album, and I think it's gonna show. The weird thing is that we spent so much time inside the Jeff Center setting up, that by the time we left (late) I realized I hadn't seen the sun all day long! Even our meals were catered, so I was inside a LOT.
I think it'll be worth it though. The band sounds amazing, and the lights are starting to come together! The Jeff Center peeps are really awesome and helpful. Great vibes!

This trip really snuck up on me! I got up bright and early to catch a flight with Andy out to Roanoke, VA. What a breezy trip! I don't think I've ever traveled this easy before. I even got to ride in my first twin-engine prop plane! It was a little scary at first, especially since the left prop didn't start until just before liftoff.
Now we're here in Roanoke, and there's a lot to be done! Dylan Locke picked us up from the airport and shuttled us to the Jeff Center, where we pretty much immediately started the lighting process. Luckily the place is AMAZING and already has lights all over the place. The people there are way cool and pretty much giving us full access to do whatever we want. No excuses this time!
After rehearsal tonight we went to a bar with a band called Ballyhoo! playing 311 covers, and Sput got a little drinky drank and went up on stage and replaced the drummer for a couple of songs. This is going to be an excellent week.

They hoisted up Brower's Love Field sculpture today, so I got to go film that whole process. I was supposed to go down to UNT for a couple of shoots right after, but before I could even get on the highway I got a call from Landon canceling both of them. He said he was working on a tree or something and got smacked in the eyeball by a branch. So I guess he's not doing to hot at the moment. Yikes!
Emily was stuck at work super late as BuzzShift prepared for a massive proposal coming up later this week. After they offered to buy me dinner I paid them a visit for moral support… and a calzone. Those people work a LOT!

Either way, we had a delicious brunch at Libertine Bar, and I got to meet a couple of his friends! Naturally, we talked about my Saturn and how amazing it is. They don't want it either though. No worries. We managed to get along anyway.

A couple of weeks ago I got nailed by a tiny rock on the highway, chipping my shiny new windshield. Luckily, insurance companies cover this kind of thing, and will get it done for free, no questions asked! I guess fixing a chip is better than replacing a windshield after the chip spiders out into a horrendous monstrosity.
The guy who did it was really cool, and we visited for a long time. He was really into the car, and I ended up giving him a ride around the block. Always fun!
Not used to having not much to do, I went with Emily to Nordstrom Rack and piddled through some shoes. Dinner at the mall was nice too. Shoppy makes me sleepy though, and I don't know why!

Right at the end of the day I got an email from some internet TV show wanting to do a Skype interview, which I ended up agreeing to, despite my rigit schedule. We Skyped in right after the staff meeting this afternoon, and it went perfectly awkwardly.
Immediately after hanging up, I drove over to RTVF to lead a RED workshop for MFA grad students! Having never done something like that before, I was pretty depressed with how it went. BUT everybody else said it was really good, so I'll take their word for it. By the time Hanny, the crew, and I finished our post-presentation dinner at Thai Ocha, the Saturn video was well on its way to 40,000 views. This is nuts!

So apparently the Saturn video blew up today. The D Magazine article posted this morning--which turned out to mostly be the questions and responses copied and pasted to the internet--and then things started to sort of snowball. Facebook friends that had been constantly sharing the video are now constantly sharing the FrontBurner article, and I've started getting more emails at the buymysexmachine email account.

We do love our coffee around UNT campus. There are so many places to get it! Today we ended up at the BLB. Before leaving for coffee I got an interesting email. Some writer for D Magazine wanted to do a little blurb about the Saturn video. WTF?! He emailed me some goofy questions and I answered them in character. He seemed to enjoy the responses, and he says the thing will be posted tomorrow morning on their blog...FrontBurner? Never heard of it. Should be funny though. I will say that I'm crazy surprised at how many of my friends shared the video today. I guess we'll see tomorrow how well it does--hopefully somebody will buy the thing!

What a lovely day off! I spent the bulk of it working on finishing up the Saturn video, which I finally got uploaded tonight. For lunch I met with Emily, Michael Stancil, and Rochelle at a place called Chicken Scratch, which turned out to be way good stuff! Well, in the worst way. Tasty terrible food. My favorite!

After a VERY interesting party last night, a few of us got up and met for brunch. We ate at the Old Monk, which I'd never been to before. It was pretty tasty, and a good bit of food for the money. Not bad!
Charlie showed off the antenna on his Droid phone, which apparently is a "sweet" feature of the Chinese versions of phones. After brunch (and another quick car tour), Charlie and I went to the mall so he could buy some friend of his an iPhone 5, which supposedly is cheaper to buy UNLOCKED here in the states than it is in China. Then we had lunch, and I even let Charlie take a quick spin in the Tesla in a parking lot near home. AND we didn't wreck! Good day.

It's a birthday surprise! We had a party tonight to celebrate my existence, and, while I spent a large chunk of the party giving car tours, I think everyone managed to have a pretty solid time. At one point I came in from a car tour to find that most of the people in attendance were strangers! Not to be a pooper of parties, I just called on everyone to get to gether for a group photo.
"Hey! Everyone who doesn't know me! Let's take a picture!" I shouted. Surprisingly enough, all the strangers were inebriated just enough not to think too hard about my request. They all got together, and with the help of my friends and their iPhone lighting skills, we got this nice group shot of people I don't know!
Other than a small incident involving a beer spilled all over my sound mixer and studio monitors, it was a pretty great time! We even got to try the 3 experimental flavors of Lay's chips: Sriracha, Cheesy Garlic Bread, and Chicken and Waffles. My vote goes to Chicken and Waffles. BRILLIANT!

Landon and I shot video of some International students today, and it was hands-down the most fun we've had on this shoot so far. They were so excited and full of energy! It took us a little bit to get set up, but they were so cool it didn't even matter. Good people!
I took Michael to Royal's Bagels for lunch, and they were tasty! The cinnamon rolls are going to be huge!

Earlier today, just after getting off work, I swung by the bank. During my whole car financing process, I worked with this chick at Chase who got really interested in the car. I promised I'd come by and show it to her when it finally came, and today I followed through! She flipped out and it was amazing.
Also funny was when I parked at the bank, a car pulled into the parking lot behind me driving very slowly. When I got out of the car, the other car slowly drove by, and I noticed a girl and guy inside staring at my ride. So, I smiled and gave them a big wave! The girl was super embarrassed as they quickly drove away. Ha! People are funny.

Oh hey woah I'm 26 now.
I got up this morning and rode with Amanda to Love Field to shoot video of an art installation going on up there. Today they just unloaded boxes from a truck, but I got some shots! Most of the time we were there Amanda was on the phone with the people trying to figure out what was going on. I guess communication is a thing.
Other than that little 2-hour shoot, I didn't get much else done. I've been dragging this weekend, and I mighth be getting sick. I tried to take a little nap, but of course as soon as my head hit the pillow my phone started ringing off the hook with my UNT coworkers needing help with office tedium. I also got an email from Darren about an NLE episode that he forgot about and now needs done this week. Blerg! Of the 2 hours I spent in bed, my wrist tells me I got 30 minutes of sleep. Apparently even Mondays off are still Mondays.

My people came up to Dallas today for birthday festivities. I hadn't realized that none of my family had ever been to Breadwinners before. Well, now they have, and they loved it! Even though we didn't get to sit up stairs somewhere, and our waitress wasn't the coolest person in the world, we still managed to have a great time and eat some DANG TASTY food.
Back home, I opened presents from everybody, which is always fun. Big gift of the year: GoPro Hero3! I can't wait to mount that thing on my car. Just you wait!
The kids all went home, but Emily and I drove to Aledo to give Dad a chance to drive the Tesla. I took them to the AHS parking lot, which was big and empty, to ensure the safest of test drives. It went really well! Hopefully now my people love the Tesla a little bit more.

Emily and I tried North Park this afternoon, and it was craze-balls there, as usual. Since shopping sucks all the energy out of my body, it wasn't long before Emily drug me out of there. We got car washes this evening at the place on Mockingbird. Turns out they're really cool and good! It's nice to have a sparkly car again. Driving 100 miles a day lays the dirt on pretty quick.
Tonight we dorve to Denton once again. My parents came up and we all had dinner at Mushroom, during which I remembered that the Thin Line awards were happening tonight. While everybody else headed over to Hailey's to see Sol Tax and Red Death, I swung by UNT on the Square for the awards. We didn't win this time.
By the time I got to Hailey's, Sol Tax was done, but I got to see Red Death and they were awesome! Those kids need to get recorded already. I think this was Garrett's first time playing a show with them. He nailed it! Way to go Garrett.

After the show we got Emily a taco and headed to Dan's for a post-screening TrebucheT concert. Emily and I ended up haging out in the back with Andy, talking about business, future plans, and the like. That is, until some random drunk guy who "just started drinking tonight" came over to tell us his life story and throw down some rhymes. Never a dull moment in Denton!

We ate dinner at the North Park Mall food court--Snappy Salads is YUM--and then we saw Identity Theft! It won't be winning any awards, but I did like its style of comedy. I need to watch more movies.
When we got home, it wsa back to the grind! Emily worked a little, and I stayed up late finishing an episode of NLE. Got it done though! Brandon's Kickstarter launched at midnight while I was still working. Hopefully we'll see some success tomorrow!

On the way home from work I talked to my mom on the phone. During that conversation a couple of guys pulled up next to me on the highway and signaled for me to open the window. When I did, they asked what kind of car I was driving. I told them and then punched it. After they caught up with me we shared a thumbs up. My mom was so proud.
I then spent the rest of my evening editing NLE. I almost go all the way through it, but this is just one of those evenings. Sleepy. Tomorrow. Definitely, tomorrow.

I had two shoots today for an upcoming Facebook-related video for UNT. Up until about half an hour before the shoot, I found out where to go. Once I was there and all set up, I got to see the approved script, which is about a paragraph longer than the single phrase we talked about in the last meeting I was in. BUT that's how it goes, I suppose. A lot of people have been out sick lately, so rewrites and approvals are all over the place.
Either way, both shoots went great and I got some decent footage. The real challenge of the day involved getting in and out of the office. My new car key is still not attached to my old set of keys, so suddenly it's very easy for me to leave the old keys, which let me into my office and house, at home. I wish I had more energy today. Sheesh.
In other news, Brian's Kickstarter was officially approved today! I think he's gonna launch it on Friday, but it's so cool to know that it's really real now!
I had two shoots today for an upcoming Facebook-related video for UNT. Up until about half an hour before the shoot, I found out where to go. Once I was there and all set up, I got to see the approved script, which is about a paragraph longer than the single phrase we talked about in the last meeting I was in. The Tesla service dudes came out to my house today to iron out the little bugs. They were really stoked about the brown color. One of them hadn't even seen one in person yet! Yay for being rare! Unfortunately the software on their laptop wasn't the right version or something, so they weren't able to fix me up, but at least I learned about some stuff! They'll be back next week with 3 laptops JUST TO BE SURE.
This evening I got a surprise call from McCall as she made her way to Dallas. She and Josh invited us to a surprise dinner at Twisted Root. What a pleasant surprise! I always enjoy hanging out with those people. Hopefully they'll move to Dallas soon so we can see them more.

This morning Emily and I made a run out to Home Depot to pick up a dolly so we could move the washer and dryer for the electricians. Dad came up to help move them this morning while Emily grabbed lunch
My dad had never heard of Serious Pizza, so we had a good laugh when Emily called to inform us that she had to put the rear seats down in her car to fit the pizza inside. The thing was HUGE! It hung off the edges of our counter on both sides.
The electricians came over around 2 this afternoon and did an excellent job! They were here working well after dark, but at least they got a ride in the car, right? They asked me to take this pic of them in front of it for their site. Looking good!
Once I got the car plugged in and verified that it all works well, the electricians left. Not 2 hours later we blew a fuse during Walking Dead, knocking half of the power out. Luckily not the half with the TV or my computer! It looks like they'll have to come back out again and fix stuff up, but in the meantime I just told my car to draw 30 amps instead of 40. Electricity!

Tonight was the premiere of the Snarky Puppy documentary that Andy, Mike League, and I worked on together! If I'm not mistaken, this was my first time attending a screening at Thin Line, which is mildly upsetting. It's such a cool festival!
After the screening Andy went up and answered questions about the production, the band, and his process. He even made a point to call me out in the crowd for an on-stage thank-you. To say I didn't get a little water in my eyes would be a lie.
Emily and I had planned to see Sol Tax at J&J's right after the screening, but we had our times wrong and just missed their performance. We were lucky enough to run into them before the screening though, and we went on a little joy ride in the Tesla. I might even have a potential buyer for the Saturn now! Fingers crossed!

After wrap I broke all my gear down and grumped back to my car to load it up. But before heading home I swung by Serious Pizza just a block away and snagged a few slices of pizza. THAT should do the trick, right?! They were pretty good slices, by the way. And now, sleep.

Jonathan and I went for coffee at the BLB this morning, and some guy we ran into said Cas Haley was playing on campus this afternoon. He's the guy in the black driving cap. Sure enough, around noon he played a free show outside the Union coffee shop. This is the guy who was a finalist on America's Got Talent. Apparently UNT is doing some daytime concert series. Good on you, UNT.

Hello Jonathan! Today marks my first day commuting to work in the Tesla, and my first time charging at UNT's new Blink stations!

IT'S HERE IT'S HERE!!
After a year and a half of waiting, my own Tesla Model S arrived today! I'm still in shock at the moment, and it still doesn't feel like it's REALLY my car--am I sure I'm not just borrowing it or something?--but here it is. And what an exciting day this was!
Gary, Michael, Jana, and Jonathan came with me to Apogee Stadium for delivery. We were joined by my parents and Andy. Patrick showed up at the same time as the semi, and when he parked his SUV somehow popped into Neutral. I was watching the truck drivers prep the truck to unload when I hear, "Woah! WOAH! ACK!"
I look over and see Patrick chasing his car as it rolls RIGHT AT THE SEMI. Unfortunately, he didn't catch up with his car until it had slammed directly into the side of the semi truck, breaking his bumper to pieces and putting a pretty good gash in the side of the truck. WOAH. Luckily the drivers were really cool about it. They kept joking and goofing around as if it was no big deal.
Then, the rolled out my car. It is GORGEOUS! It was probably half an hour before I even drove it. We were all just walking laps around it, drooling over all the curves and techie bits. Still in shock.
After taking everyone for a spin, we broke it up so my parents and I could take it for inspection. The look on the guys' faces at Kwik Kar was PRICELESS! They had no idea what they were looking at, much less how to inspect it. A quick spin around the parking lot and a couple of honks later, we were on our way!
I got a call this morning from the tax office saying I made a goof on my sales tax check, so we had to rush down to Dallas so I could write one for the remaining balance. I assumed they closed at 5 and I'd get there just in time. Turns out they close at 4:30. We frantically made our way to town, stopping at the house to grab my check book. I called them to say my GPS had me arriving at 4:30.
"We'll hold the door for you," the man said. We arrived, parked, and ran inside the building, only to find all the window cages down. As we finished rounding the corner though, I saw a man literally holding the door open. He saw us running at him, pointed, and asked, "Are you Brad?"
"Yes!"
"OK, come on in."
SO CLOSE! I think I still have more adrenaline than blood flowing right now.
Before taking my parents back to Denton we stopped at Emily's work so her people could have a look. Then her coworker Michael joined us for dinner at the Omni so we could charge. Well, we ended up charging at the A Loft and eating at Omni, but that's a dumb story.
We had good food, got a bit of charge (but not enough to make it to Denton), took my parents back to Denton (in the Saturn), and got home safely! Congrats on reading down this far, by the way.

It looks like my delivery driver is running ahead of schedule. Like, way ahead of schedule. I was bracing for the longest week of my life and a Thursday delivery, but instead it looks like he's gonna be here TOMORROW!

Happy birthday Brian! Emily and I met up with Brian and a bunch of his friends at Taverna for a birthday brunch. They're a fun group of people! Even though we were a bit late and ended up on the opposide end of the table from Brian, we were still entertained by the strangers around us.
Afterward, we popped over to Yumilicious for some after-brunch froyo and more visiting before Emily and I had to run home and get back to work.
OH and apparently the Super Bowl was today. I didn't really watch it, but I did see a commercial from which I'll be stealing this line for awhile: "More everything, Sky Waitress. BAHAHA!"

Emily and I went to some mini craft show thing over at the same building where Andy and I shot the science video. Brandon and Max were there so we had to scope it out!
I came across a woman selling toffee. I'm usually pretty neutral when it comes to toffee, but this stuff was AMAZING! I grabbed a bag and ran (after paying like a gentleman), and I don't think this stuff is going to make it through tomorrow. Austin Mason! That's what she's called. Go get some!
As for the rest of my day (and likely the weekend), I'll be standing in front of my computer pretending to edit while I anxiously await my delivery at the end of next week.

I can say without any hesitation that today I had the best DMV experience of my life. Mom and Dad came up to join me in taking care of last bit of Tesla errands (paying sales tax, registration, etc.), and we got to work with the coolest lady at the DMV! I took care of all the payment stuff, but when she went to the back to check, my special plates weren't in yet. Not weird. I only ordered them a few weeks ago, so I didn't expect them to be in yet. She gave me regular plates and we were on our way.
We stopped at Oddfellows for lunch, and as soon as we sat down I got an email from the DMV saying my plates had arrived. WOOHOO! After eating we drove back and swapped the plates out. Now I can say that I'm already on my 2nd set of plates and I don't even have my car yet!

Sean here ordered a coffee right after me, but had still not received it after I had gotten--and drank--mine. He had to rush to a meeting, so we made some Union heads roll to get him his coffee, which we delivered to him at his meeting. You're welcome, Sean!
This evening I ate at Goodfriend with Amanda. That barely ever happens at all! It was nice to hang and visit one-on-one. But now I am FULL!

Later tonight I got this app called Vine, where you shoot looping 6s videos for the internet. I think I could get into this. Maybe.

Today was kind of an icky day for pictures, but I went with Rob from El Creative to scope out some spots around town and take some test footage. They're putting something together for an upcoming project and they want to make sure it's gonna work. I think it will!
While driving around we came across a pile of Lady Gaga fans camped out on the sidewalk. I guess she has a show soon or something. Do people not realize you can buy tickets online now?

Day two of Brandon's manly Kickstarter video was even more manly than the first! We spent the first half of the day in a factory full of comically large tools and machinery. When we finished up there we shot the last bit of the video in his studio. This thing is going to be pretty tasty if you ask me. And you totally ask me.

Happy birthday, brother! Cameron is freakin' 20 years old today. Even though he is taller than me, hairier than me, and has a voice about an octave lower than mine, he still has to wait one more year before he can taste a nasty beer.

Once that was wrapped, I met up with the fam for birthday dinner at Greenhouse. We hung out for a bit at Westridge before Emily and I hit up a party at Courtney's place, which was great! Such a fun group of people. I think they should all move to Dallas so we can party longer!

I got some paperwork from Tesla! I shipped off the final bit of financing paperwork along this evening as well, thus wrapping up my end of the paperwork for now. Now I'm just waiting for the car to be delivered! I'm pretty sure I'm just going to stay in permanent freakout mode until the car actually arrives.
I should also mention that today marks the end of a multi-day Facebook argument with the vice principal of the high school I went to. We covered everything from guns, to religion, to abortion--you know, the essentials. Even though it's like talking to a wall, I like to think some positive influence comes out of it… even if he did unfriend and block me. But hey! That's how it goes, am I right? #internetbattles #hashtag

I can't say with any certainty that Emily and I will attempt to mash our own potatoes again.
We tried to make dinner tonight, and I think I just didn't boil the potatoes long enough. Maybe I boiled them about half as long as I was supposed to. Either way, Emily spent a LOT of time looking for different ways to mash those suckers, but with no luck. By the time we had them mashed-ish, they were pretty much cold, and they STILL tasted awful. Emily was not a happy camper.
In other news, I hit 120k miles in my Saturn today!
I can't say with any certainty that Emily and I will attempt to mash our own potatoes again.
We tried to make dinner tonight, and I think I just didn't boil the potatoes long enough. Maybe I boiled them about half as long as I was supposed to. Either way, Emily spent a LOT of time looking for different ways to mash those suckers, but with no luck. By the time we had them mashed-ish, they were pretty much cold, and they STILL tasted awful. Emily was not a happy camper.
In other news, I hit 120k miles in my Saturn today!

I spent most of my Tuesday free time posting articles about atheism on Facebook. You know, the kind of stuff that makes people act calm and rationally in response. It was pleasant.
More importantly, I FINALLY finished Meg and Greg's video and popped it online! Thank Science, they loved it! I know she's married and everything, but I'm PRETTY sure Meghan wants to have my babies. That calls for some peanut chicken off Mockingbird! DONE.

That's a wrap! Andy and I had our last day of shooting for our Tri Delta project today, and it was a very nice, smooth way to go out. We basically spent the entire day in a room with a pile of sorority girls taking turns in front of the camera. Piece of cake!

Looks like Emily is ready to go out and be a GLADIATOR! I had to get back to work after staying up late playing Borderlands 2 with her uncle Marc. We had dinner over there and hung out for the evening. They rock!
As for today, I think I finally have a cut of Meghan's wedding video! I even think they might like it. WIN WIN!

After enjoying a delicious breakfast at Garden Cafe, I started prepping for the final day of production on my ridiculous and stupid Saturn Ion video. Andy came down to my place to lend a hand, and I can't say I wasn't impressed with the outcome! Sure it took a little longer than we'd planned, but I think we have everything we need to create a VERY stupid, overly produced video to sell my car from high school.
The cool thing is that we still have rented gear for the Tri Delta stuff, so my Saturn video gets to have Steadicam shots and stuff. Ohhhh man.

I'm pretty sure every girl there warmed something up in the microwave while we were there. Nonetheless, we still managed to get some good content for them. Day 1 of the Tri Delta shoot wasn't too bad. It's always a bit hairy shooting live events on the Epic, but we managed. Light wasn't really on our side either, but luckily the girls were packed with energy (it's rush week), so the content balances out the technical aspects of our footage. Tomorow is all interviews, so it should be cake!
OH and we ate lunch at this amazing German restaurant down the street. I need to remember to go back there again sometime.

I got to have lunch with Hanny today! It looks like I'll be doing some sort of special presentation at UNT pretty soon to talk about RED stuff to some grad students. Should be fun! Hopefully. Not a fan of public speaking, but I'll have some wingmen there with me to help out. Hanny and I just talked about the subject matter a little bit to help calm me down.
Tomorrow, Andy and I begin a three-day shoot with Tri Delta! I've got all my gear packed and ready to go. Now, I rest.

Yet another attempt at a crock pot dinner. This one was Emily's doing. I'm not exactly a fan of bell peppers, but Emily figured if we stuffed them full of meat it would be OK. Luckily it wasn't TOO bad getting through the bell-pepper-flavored meat, but there was no way I was gonna eat that shell.

This was a good, solid day for working on Meg and Greg's wedding video. I should have this thing knocked out in the next couple of days! I can't wait to pop that thing onto the onlines!
Of course, it's not easy to get work done with Tungsten begging to play. The hard part about being home on Mondays is that I'm the only person home to play with the cats. Tungsten likes to wear his toys around the house while meowing as loudly as he can. The dude knows how to make it happen for sure.

I've been dealing with some interesting issues financing my car. Because I lack the credit history to finance a Tesla alone, my dad is cosigning with me. Apparently when my grandma's credit union in Virginia switched all of her accounts to my dad, they forgot to uncheck the "deceased" box. You can imagine my surprise when I talked to the bank today and they had to break the news to me that my dad was dead. WTF! One more obstacle to overcome. Buying cars is a lot of work!
Food! I tried the first of many crock pot recipes today. Tonight was something called Sweet and Tangy Chicken. Not bad, but it'll need some lovin' next time around. CROCK IT UP A NOTCH!

I finally got to attend my first Spiderweb Salon tonight! Even though they're running it out of somebody's backyard, the thing is pretty legit. Talented artists take turns performing in rapid succession for a small gathering of excitable friends. This is much more my kind of atmosphere. Even though it was freakin' FREEZING tonight, everyone still had a great time.
Afterwards we swung by Banter for some coffee and a Sol Tax show! Unfortunately there were some sound quality issues, but nonetheless it's always great to see those peeps play! I'm always reminded about how I don't hang out with Sydney nearly enough. It's also worth noting that Banter has some REAL GOOD coffee.

Tonight was a black and white party for Austere Magazine, the same magazine for which I shot video at that thrasher killer murder metal explosion boom boom kill festival… or whatever it was called. The people are great though! They are sweethearts.
I was lucky enough to run into Antonio while we were there! Haven't seen that dude in ages, but as you can see he's become quite a dashing character. We didn't stick around at the party very long--we arrived just as Ella Minnow finished their set--but it was cool to visit!

For dinner tonight we had Torchy's over by the train tracks somewhere. I think it's by Greenville or something, but I still have basically zero grasp of where things are around Dallas. The DART came by while we walked over there though, so that was cool. TRAINS!

Lunch at Thai Ocha is always a treat! Most of what I did today involved editing photos and getting caught up. I did get to see a sweet illustration of myself though. Van's boyfriend Michael illustrated Emily and me with our cats. It's adorable and awesome, but in the cheesiest way. I love it! Apparently Facebook does too.
I've also been spending a lot of time arguing about guns online since the whole Newtown thing. Yeesh.

After Power Breakfast with Jonathan this morning, I wanted to see if the new Blink chargers were up and running yet. We drove by on the cart and what did we see? Not only are the chargers up and running, but there was a real-life Chevy Volt sitting there getting a charged! I am so happy to see those chargers already helping people out. I thought surely it'd be at least 6 months before anybody but me really used them. I'm glad I was wrong!

An electrician came by to check the place out on my day off today. He was a really nice guy, and he didn't freak out nearly as much as the Solar City folks did. That's not to say he didn't freak out a little. Hopefully I'll get a quote soon so I can move forward!

Kevin came up to Dallas today to join us from brunch. We walked to a place called The Mecca that we'd never tried before. The service was meh, the food was ok, but the star of the show was their cinnamon rolls, which were AMAZING and so awful for you. Apparently they can make a cinnamon roll that feeds 50-60 people!
It was fun watching Amanda and her brother goof off as we walked from one place to another. They're definitely some entertaining siblings. We hit up Goodwill briefly and went back home. At t hat point I was back in recovery mode. Hopefully my brain will calm down by tomorrow. Headaches are no fun!

While I did get to join the photographers for a print check over at the USB, today's work day was pretty standard. I hung around Denton until this evening though, when I got to see my brother and sister jam at Abbey Underground! The Red Death totally still needs me as the drummer instead of that other IMPOSTER who also calls himself Brad, but I let it slide today.

My parents came up for the show as well, so I got to update them on my Tesla status some more, which of course is pretty crazy right now. Turns out having never bought a car before makes banks nervous when your first vehicle purchase ranks in the "crazy people" price range. I'm not worried though. These things work themselves out!

Goodbye, Disney! I miss you already.
We checked out of the hotel at 3:30 this morning to catch our flight. We had a connection in Houston on the way home, and I have to say that I do very much enjoy the flight from Houston to DFW. It went so quick that the flight attendants were scrambling to take everyone's drink orders so they'd still have time to serve them before we landed.
Of course we landed at DFW, about 15 minutes from home, but we had to ride to Aledo to get our cars, and then ride back to Dallas again. I had no problem spending the rest of today in a mild coma.
Goodbye, Disney! I miss you already.

It's the first day of 2013, and our last day in Disney World! I wouldn't say I'm excited to be heading home, but, strangely, I am looking forward to going back to work.
